As the transition to winter sports is starting, PRG has entered a number of pre-season festivals and tournaments to prepare for the tough season that lays ahead, starting with a home fixture against their long-standing rivals from Gqeberha, Grey High.

The hockey programme has already started with 19A and B taking part in Milnerton High’s Co-Ed festival, where both teams went unbeaten. The u-14A and B sides played in the DF Malan Festival where the u-14A side was named the side with the most constructive play of the tournament.

Eight of the school’s 17 hockey teams will take part in festivals during the March holidays, with the A sides travelling to Gauteng and Durban to participate in the annual Founders’ Festivals.

On the rugby front, PRG has used fixtures at the Outeniqua Centennial and against Drostdy to prepare for their holiday festivals. The A and B sides of all the age groups will take part in the strongly contested Noord-Suid Festival in Pretoria, while other sides will participate in the yearly Paarl Gym Festival.

On home turf Paul Roos will play host to two major festivals, the Paul Roos Rugby Festival for u-14 to u-16s, which give opportunities to younger players who are not in A teams to take part in a competitive tournament. Sixteen schools will take part in this event from 1 to 3 April at the Markötter Sports Complex. This will be followed by the Willie le Roux festival hosted by Lochnerhof. This is a primary schools festival.

The PRG soccer teams started their season at the Reddam tournament where they ended second. The team’s season will kick off officially on the 14th and 15th of April against Wellington Prep & College and Victoria Park High.
