On 11 May, 50 children from the Pebbles Project visited Rhenish Girls’ High for a day filled with fun and learning.

With the help of approximately 60 Rhenish girls and 10 Paul Roosers, they participated in hockey, soccer, rugby, netball and musical activities.

The aim of the event is to provide the children, whose parents work on nearby wine farms, an opportunity to experience the facilities Rhenish has on offer.

Many of the children had never seen a hall as big, never mind having played hockey!

On arrival, the children and Pebbles staff members were welcomed by friendly Rhenish faces and a delicious packed lunch, thanks to Paul Roos KwikSpar. Once they had been sorted into their various age groups, they set off on a great adventure! They moved between the five stations, where each Rhenisher taught them something new and exciting.

Meanwhile, the “adults” also enjoyed their day as they were treated to refreshments in the pavilion. Rhenish was lucky enough to have Sophia Warner, the founder and director of Pebbles, join us for a short while.

After two hours of fun, the children had to say goodbye to their new friends and go back to their respective farms. According to feedback from Pebbles Project the only thing the children could think about on the way home was next year’s Skills Day.
