Wine Analytical Services Laboratory (WASLab), a 100% BEE-owned business based at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch, was named the third best wine laboratory in the country for 2024 through the South African Wine Laboratory Association. The process of the competition sees labs receive two unknown wine samples monthly for 12 months and submitting 14 results per month. The local lab scored mostly A-results with its submissions, a great accomplishment for an independent wine laboratory, as it is an indication of the submissions being accurate and consistent in results. More than 50 wine labs from across the country participated in the competition.
