Master of ceremonies Leatitia Solomons-Manuel with poets and participants Kevin Jooste (Cloetesville) and Gadeema Henry (Pniel).

Poets from Stellenbosch and surrounding areas presented their works at an open microphone poetry concert presented by the Stellenbosch Museum in the garden at Grosvenor House on Friday 20 May.

The event aimed to give participants a platform to showcase their skills. “There is so much talent in our communities and the concert aimed to create a platform where the ordinary person could showcase their talents,” explained museum manager Debbie Gabriels.

Some of the participants were members of the Pniël Poets Group, which released a collection of poems in 2020.

The concert’s master of ceremonies was Leatitia Solomons-Manuel, who not only became well-known for her drama talent but also for her poems and short stories.

The Stellenbosch Museum extended its thanks to all participants for their contribution to the success of the concert.
