The athletics team of Paul Roos Gymnasium (PRG) competed at the annual Paarl Boys’ High Top Boys’ Athletics meet in Paarl on Friday 27 January, with the team raking in eight gold medals, 13 silver and 10 bronze. In total, the team earned 280 points and finished in second place on the night, marking the school’s best performance since the event’s establishment in 2020. Gold medals were won by Joshua Acker (under-19 discus and shotput, left), Ethan Badenhuizen (under-14 discus), Luke van der Merwe (under-17 high jump, new record), Jean Volschenk (under-14 100 m hurdles), Canaan Eksteen (under-14 100 m and 200 m, right), Mark Lester (under-15 1 500 m) and the under-14 relay team. The next big event for the PRG athletes will be the Prestige Event, which will be held at Dal Josafat Stadium in Paarl on Tuesday 14 February.
