Comic Con 2022 champions Paul Roos Gymnasium will be heading to Comic Con Cape Town 2023 later this month and are eager to walk away with the title once again.
In the spirit of growth, the Paul Roos eSport teams have been honing their skills over the last couple of weeks by participating in the Telkom VS Gaming High School eSport League and the African Cyber Gaming Schools League.
The PRG A-team beat Voortrekker High School and Helpmekaar High School at Rocket League during the High School eSport League while the PRG B-team challenged themselves by competing against Hudson Park’s A-team and lost 2-3. In the spirit of self-improvement, the PRG C-team also competed against Westville Boys’ High’s A-team and lost 2-3.
Paul Roos eSport teams are also participating in the African Cyber Gaming Schools League where they are competing with games such as Fortnite and Fifa 23.
With Fortnite, Paul Roos was ranked out of 55 teams. In round 1 the PRG B-team won with 35 points, the C-team was placed in 5th position, whilst the A team was placed in the 6th position. During round 2 the PRG E team won with 30 points, the B team was placed in the 2nd position and the A-team in the 5th position.
With Fifa ’23, PRG’s Francois Groenewald beat players from Parklands while Alex Pillay beat players from Wesvalia, Parklands, as well as Monument Park. Paul Roos eSport learners Sebastian Decon and Francois Groenewald both participated in the Maties Showdown where Sebastian ended in 6th position, while Francois ended in 10th position.
Further accomplishments include PRG’s A and B-teams’ wins while playing League of Legends against Jeppe Boys’ High (1-0) and Voortrekker High School (1-0). The PRG A-team won Glen High 10-6 with Valorant, while they lost 3-13 against Grey High. Paul Roos looks forward to the continuance of exciting gaming against its fellow high school gaming teams.
