Eric Kotze from Paul Roos Gymnasium participated in the junior national swimming championships at Kings Park, Durban from 21 to 25 March and scooped several medals. His results were as follows: gold in the 100 m backstroke, gold in the 100 m butterfly, gold in the 50 m butterfly, gold in the 200 m free style, silver in 100 m backstroke, fourth in 50 m free-style final, sixth in the 50 m breaststroke final. Setting a new South African record with a time of 00:28:12 in the 50 m backstroke, he also achieved the 3rd most points overall at the junior nationals, aged 12-16, and is now officially the junior national champion for boys u-13.
