Learners from the Rhenish Girls’ High School gave outstanding performances at the 21st National All Girls’ Tournament over the past weekend.

Rhenish sent a number of teams across a broad spectrum of disciplines to the tournament, which was hosted by Eunice Girls’ High School in Bloemfontein.

The tournament, from 27 to 30 April, was attended by 26 girls’ schools from across South Africa.

While all the participants from Rhenish represented their school with pride and excellence, two teams did particularly well, placing themselves among the top school teams in the country.

Rhenish 1st Hockey progressed through the rounds to face Oranje Meisieskool in the final.

On their journey to the final they triumphed against Affies in the quarter-final and then the hosts, Eunice Girls’ in the semi-finals.

A tough final against Oranje saw the team place second and coming away with the Silver Medal.

The 1st Tennis had an incredible tournament with wins against Parktown Girls’, Paarl Girls’ and Collegiate Girls’ before beating Pietermaritzburg Girls’ in the first round of the play-offs.

In the second round the Rhenishers beat Bloemhof Meisieskool to progress to the finals against Oranje Meisieskool.

Like their Rhenish sisters in the hockey team they were just not able to beat the powerful players from Oranje, but proudly walked away with the silver medal.
