Ineke Brynard, a current Grade 12 learner at Rhenish Girls’ High School, recently signed a full scholarship with Morehead State University in Kentucky, USA, where she will be part of the university’s golfing programme.
This year the golfing talent tied in first place in the Western Province Provincial Women’s Amateur Championship and finished fifth in the South African Women’s Amateur Match Play Championship.
She ranked as the number 1 senior and junior player in the Boland Ladies’ Golf Union and won the Boland Ceres Open and Junior Championship. Furthermore, Ineke was selected as captain of the Boland u-19 women’s team and currently holds the title of De Zalze Golf Club women’s club champion.
“Ineke is an experienced and driven amateur, who is highly recommended by her coaches and educators,” said Stephanie Baker, head coach of the Morehead State University golfing programme. “I am impressed with the fact that Ineke has been a top-ranked junior in South Africa for the last three years, and most recently has moved up to a South African junior ranking of seventh.
“Her game is well-rounded and is trending in the right direction. She has solid fundamentals and is a very steady player, who is used to competing in a variety of weather conditions. Most importantly, all of Ineke’s references are quick to recommend her as a diligent and friendly teammate, who is a wonderful leader. The team and I are excited to welcome Ineke to our programme.”
