Rhenish Girls’ High recently received a number of accolades at the Stellenbosch Eistedfodd.
A member of the school’s music department, Liza Joubert, received the George van der Spuy Cup for the Best Accompanist for Singing.
The Rhenish Girls’ High Choir received the Reinette Terreblanche Cup for Choir (High School, Students, Open) Sacred. The Rhenish Girls’ High Orchestra received the Alet de Vos Cup for Youth Orchestra (Mixed Orchestra: High School, Students, Open).
Sitaarah Magerman received the Stellenbosch Primary Singing Cup for Solo Singing Girls 13 Years.
5.Masimange Sesanti shared the Stellenbosch Eistedfodd Medal for Solo Singing Girls 15 Years with Jeanne-Marie Minnie from Bloemhof. Masi and Jeanne-Marie are both trained by Sonja Van Amstel of Rhenish Girls’ High, Masi attends Rhenish and Jeanne-Marie is at Bloemhof).
She also received the Stellenbosch Eistedfodd Medal for Best Jazz/Cabaret Singer (15 Years) and for Singing Concert Programme (13 – 15 Years).
Lisa Meyer received five awards: the Stellenbosch Eistedfodd Medal for Solo Singing Girls 17 years, the CF Smit Cup for Music and Singing – Best Senior Woman Participant, the Dr W Kempen Floating Trophy – Afrikaans piece by a South African Composer, the Stellenbosch Eistedfodd Medal for Music Theatre High School and Open, and the Stellenbosch Kunswedstrydmedalje for Singing Consert Programme 16 Years and older.
