On Thursday 26 July, Rhenish Girls’ High’s music department hosted an orchestral celebration.

The dreamchild of Linda de Villiers, conductor of the Rhenish orchestra and music teacher at the school, the celebration was a way of bringing learners from Paul Roos, Bloemhof, Stellenbosch Hoërskool, Parel Vallei and Rhenish Girls’ High, who play various instruments in their school’s orchestras, bands or ensembles, together.

The groups performing were the Stringendo String Orchestra, conducted by Amoré Steyn, Stellenbosch Hoër ensemble (conducted by Lyuda Heath) and the Stellenbosch Hoër orchestra (conducted by Jan-Hendrik Harley), Musica Perpetua Wind Band (conducted by Renaldo Wales) with members from Paul Roos, Rhenish Girls’ High and Bloemhof Meisieskool, Parel Vallei’s Big Band (conducted by Duncan Comb) and the Rhenish Girls’ High orchestra (conducted by De Villiers).

The evening concluded with a mass item involving all the participants.
