The Rhenish Girls’ High School is bursting with pride after its learners excelled in several sports during the winter season.
Rhenish’s first team, u-16A and u-14A Hockey sides, finished the year at number 4, number 10 and number 5 in the country, respectively.
Grace de Jongh, a Grade-11 learner, recently participated in the National SA Short Course Championship held in the Western Cape. She swam her way to the finals for all the events and won gold for her 50 m Backstroke, making her a SA champion.
Grade-12 learner Katerina Combrinck has been selected for the u-18 Boland surfing team.
She will participate in the SA Junior Surf Championships in Jeffrey’s Bay from 4 to 8 October.
Grade-12 learner, Baylee Engelke, has been selected to participate in the SA Senior IPT Tournament as part of the SA u-21 hockey squad from 21 to 26 August in the Zulu kingdom.
TagRugby player Sarah Krone, a Grade 12 learner, recently participated in the TagRugby World Cup. The South African Mixed Open Team finished fifth.
The u-16A hockey team participated in the Bloemhof Fairtree All Stars Tournament. It was unbeaten and took on Stellenberg High School in the final, which they walked away from as champions, winning the encounter 2-0.
