Grace Morris, a Grade 10 learner at Rhenish Girls’ High School, has been selected for the South African team participating in the XVI Africa Aquatics Swimming Championships in Angola from Tuesday 30 April to Sunday 5 May. Her selection followed her stellar results at the South African national junior and senior swimming championships. During the junior championships she achieved first place in the under-16 200 m backstroke race, as well as second place in the under-16 100 m backstroke, 50 m backstroke, 100 m freestyle and 50 m freestyle. She also won a silver medal as part of the under-19 mixed freestyle relay team, as well as a bronze medal as a member of the under-19 100 m medley relay team. At the senior championships, Grace ended third in the 50 m B-final, fourth in the 200 m backstroke A-final, second in the 4×50 m freestyle relay as part of the A-team, third in the 100 m backstroke B-final, second in the 4×100 m freestyle relay as part of the A-team, fourth in the 50 m freestyle B-final and sixth place as part of the 4×100 m medley relay B-team.
