Victoria Matthews appears to have great persuasive powers – not to mention oratory skills.

For the matric learner of Rhenish Girls’ High public speaking has been a passion from her earliest days at the school, and it’s something she has engaged in to considerable acclaim.

On Thursday 23 August, Victoria once again won the Strand Rotary Orators Competition. This year the competition was hosted at Parel Vallei High School.

Victoria has shone in public speaking competitions. In Grade 9, she won first prize in the junior category as well as the best overall speaker prize.

In Grade 10 she won first prize in the senior category and was named best overall speaker. In Grade 11 she was placed second in the senior category. Victoria ends her high school career with another fine victory: first prize in the senior category and was named best overall speaker – her topic: “Can the world win the war on plastic?”
