Three would-be armed robbers’ plans were foiled by Stellenbosch police, during an incident at a meat market in Bridge Road, Khayamandi, last Thursday (27 February).
On arrival, the police found three armed suspects busy robbing the store and immediately entered the store. The suspects tried to evade arrest and one suspect pointed a firearm at the officers, but was subsequently wounded and arrested. The two other suspects were also arrested on the premises and three 9 mm pistols with ammunition were recovered.
The wounded suspect is under guard at a medical facility.
The suspects face charges of armed robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. They will appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrates’ Court once they have been charged.
