Two days of spectacular mountain biking were the order of the weekend in Stellenbosch at the popular Savanna Origin of Trails MTB Experience, fuelled by Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages. After two days of intense racing Cobus Marais emerged victorious in the men’s marathon, claiming the top spot on the podium with a combined time of 04:44:08. Luyanda Tobigunya from Stellenbosch secured second place, while Michael James rounded the podium off in third. Tobigunya won the first stage on Saturday (16 November). On Sunday 17 November, Andrea Schöfmann, also from Stellenbosch, claimed her second-stage victory of the weekend with a strong performance in the women’s marathon with a combined time of 05:32:29. Nicola Rickli claimed second place, while Sarita Louw finished strong in third. Tyron Walters emerged as the overall winner in the men’s half-marathon, with Jan Gerhard Cloete in second place and Pascal Sirrer completing the podium in third.
