On Monday morning (13 February), 23 children and two adults were injured when the taxi they travelled in crashed into a ditch off the R101 in Klapmuts.
ER24 and other services were dispatched at 08:10. On arrival, medics found a taxi upright in a roadside ditch. Several children were seated near the vehicle while others were led to the Klapmuts Police office station across the road.
Medics assessed the patients and found that 23 children, aged between 6 and 18, had sustained minor to moderate injuries, while two adults had sustained moderate injuries.
The patients were treated and later transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
