The home stretch is near and matriculants care using the school holidays to prepare for the matric exams.

The countdown has started and matrics are gearing up for the 2024 National Senior Certificate examination, with the first exam being written on Monday 21 October.

Over the current school holidays matric learners across the province will attend Spring School to revise their work and prepare for the final exams ahead.

They will have the opportunity to attend walk-in classes at their schools or at a hub with learners from several other schools. “We appreciate the willingness of their tutors and schools to host these vital revision classes over the holiday period,” provincial education minister David Maynier said.

“We have also collated a variety of e-learning resources specifically for our matrics on our e-portal, including video lessons, past papers, study tips and revision notes.”

The department appealed to the public to support matrics through this often stressful period.

Matrics who feel overwhelmed can reach out to their teachers and schools for mental-health support. Help is always available.

Along with the learners, this time is also an anxious time for Grade 12 teachers who have supported learners throughout the year.

Maynier’s message to matrics is: “You have made it this far, and worked so hard to prepare for this moment, so this is the time to really make your efforts count. We can’t wait to see what the class of 2024 will achieve!”
