Grade 8 and 9 learners of Rhenish Girls’ High School showcased their historical knowledge with outstanding results in the Junior History Olympiad of South Africa. The online competition saw 908 learners from 47 schools nationwide vying for top honours, and Rhenish delivered an impressive performance, with five learners securing top-90 rankings. The school’s top achievers were Grade 9 learners Keira Campbell (silver, top 90) and Annabella Savage (gold, top 49), as well as Grade 8 learners Jessica Hodsdon (silver, top 90), Kathryn Hodsdon (gold, top 49) and Megan Bennie (platinum – seventh in SA and second among Grade 8 learners). The learners’ impressive results secured the school second place among all Quintile 4 and 5 schools in SA, a testament to the dedication and academic strength of the school’s learners.
