This December, Vergenoegd Löw is hosting a series of enchanting Advent celebrations, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the true spirit of the festive season.
Be there when the estate comes alive with festive cheer, exceptional music, and the warmth of community. Each Sunday before Christmas Day guests will be treated to a captivating performance, surrounded by stunning seasonal decorations, and followed by a sumptuous festive feast prepared by chef Drikus Brink and his talented team.
The series of performances, themed around Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, are set to showcase some of South Africa’s finest musical talent. Guests can look forward to an unforgettable experience at the estate from 16:00 to 19:30 every Sunday.
Hope: Sunday 1 December – Brittany Smith and Seung-Ree Lee
Renowned South African opera singer Brittany Smith, a house soloist with Cape Town Opera and Fleur du Cap Theatre award winner, will take the stage with pianist Seung-Ree Lee. Smith has received multiple accolades for her work in opera and musical theatre, including Best Female Opera Performance and Best Lead Actress in a Musical. Lee, an accomplished pianist and finalist in several prestigious international competitions, will accompany Smith in this powerful performance of hope.
Peace: Sunday 8 December – Khayelitsha Youth Choir
The Khayelitsha Youth Choir, founded in 2018, is a dynamic group of young people from the Harare area in Khayelitsha, using music as a tool for empowerment and social change. The choir performs an eclectic mix of genres, including choral, pop, gospel and R&B, and has made an impact at major events such as the Table Bay Hotel’s 25th anniversary and the We Are Africa trade show.
Joy: Sunday 15 December – The Wildflower Trio
The Wildflower Trio, comprising Louisa Theart (flute), Matthijs van Dijk (violin) and Cheryl de Havilland (cello), will bring a touch of classical joy to the festivities. The trio features accomplished musicians from the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, with Theart also a member of the Mizar Trio. Van Dijk is a composer whose works have been performed at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall, while De Havilland is a versatile cellist with a wide-ranging career in opera, jazz, and classical music.
Love: Sunday 22 December – Isibane se Afrika choir
The Isibane se Afrika choir is dedicated to uplifting youth in Khayelitsha through music, dance, and theatre. As a registered NGO, the choir’s performances raise funds to support local community development. By attending, guests will not only enjoy an exceptional African cultural performance but will also contribute to a cause that is making a meaningful impact on the lives of young people in the area.
After each performance, guests will indulge in a delectable festive meal prepared by Brink and his culinary team at Geuwels and Clara’s Barn, Vergenoegd Löw’s renowned restaurants.
