Football will return to the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday evening when local side Stellenbosch FC plays host to Orlando Pirates in a must-watch opening match of the 2023-’24 DStv Premiership campaign.

Stellies head into the fixture on the back of a season in which the club ended sixth in the league and reached the Nedbank Cup semi-final, and they will be looking to hit the ground running once again with a strong start against their opponents from Soweto.

“We’ve prepared well,” head coach Steve Barker said.

“I think we’ve compiled a very good squad with good balance and we are looking forward to a positive start to the season.

“We finished sixth and fourth in the league in the last two seasons so we want to continue with that consistency and push for an even higher log position than that this time around.

“We have a difficult start with the amount of matches scheduled, but we are positive and well prepared for that and looking forward to the start of the season against Pirates at home.”

Kick-off for the match is at 20:00 with tickets available to purchase for R40 per person from www.webtickets.co.za. No tickets will be sold at the gate.
