In honour of the Savanna Origin of Trails MTB Experience’s 10th anniversary this month, event organisers are spicing things up by calling on riders to “dress for the occasion” for the final stage of the event on Sunday 19 November.

It’s not a proper celebration without some exciting prizes, so the two riders – a man and a woman – with the most creative outfits will each take home R10 000 and 10 cases of Savanna.

“The bar was raised in 2022 with the best-dressed competition sparking a lot of excitement,” said Michael Meyer, managing director of Stillwater Sports and event founder. “We’d like to encourage more riders to take the challenge up in 2023. Show us just how creative you can be. With our 10th anniversary upon us we felt it’s only fitting to make ‘10’ the central theme – whether it’s a word featuring ‘ten’, the numeral itself, or your unique vision of a ten-year celebration.

“Interpretation is the name of the game, and we can’t wait to see what the riders come up with. Our panel of judges will shortlist the top three men and top three women contenders, who will then be called to the stage during the prize-giving. The winners will be chosen by the audience. Don’t forget, to be eligible to win the prize you need to wear your outfit for the duration of the stage. We challenge all entrants to let their creative sides reign and join the fun.”

The Savanna Origin of Trails MTB Experience is an individual two-day MTB stage race that highlights the beauty and splendour of Stellenbosch. Mountain bikers will be treated to a vast network of world-class and exclusive trails while celebrating the origin of SA mountain biking on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 Novemver.

The race village (start and finish points) will be located at Coetzenburg.

Riders can choose between the full marathon (50 km and 48 km) and the half marathon (31 km and 36 km). Entries close on Monday 6 November or once full capacity has been reached.
