Kusaselihle “Lihle” Ngidi of Team Fairtree DP World Cannondale in action in the Darling Brew Extreme 80 km race on Saturday (25 May). He was one of four riders of the Stellenbosch-based team to brave the rugged Swartland terrain in the mountain-biking event. Fellow rider Luyanda Thobigunya won the men’s elite race in a time of 03:36:02, followed by Ongeziwe “Ongs” Tyapa in fourth (03:56:00), Ngidi in 12th (04:17:49) and Sithelelwe Xhala in 13th place (04:18:04). “It was a brilliant race for the team, with all the riders finishing in the top 15 and Luyanda taking the win,” said team manager Chris Norton. “We are really excited to see how the team is going to perform over the next couple of races, given that there are some great cross-country events coming soon. The team is going from strength to strength, and the younger riders are really starting to perform.”
