Stellenbosch Municipality is gearing-up for a busy grass-cutting season.
This runs throughout the year, with new schedules drawn up every two months, depending on factors such as weather, the growth of grass and complaints received from residents.
“With the fast growth of grass, our teams are diligently working across all public areas, parks and sidewalks, adhering to a schedule that rotates every six weeks during the warmer months,” said municipal spokesperson Stuart Grobbelaar.
“Residents can be assured that every area will be visited and maintained. However, it’s important to note that some routes fall under the jurisdiction of the Cape Winelands District Municipality, which is responsible for maintaining grass along provincial routes.
“Their teams are also actively working throughout the broader district.
“Please be aware that this schedule does not include grass cutting and maintenance for public cemeteries, riverbank areas or the vibrant traffic circles on Bird Street, Merriman Street and the traffic islands along the R44, as these areas are maintained on a separate schedule,” Grobbelaar added.
