Stellenbosch Football Club has progressed to the Nedbank Cup round of 16 after overcoming the challenge of Pretoria Callies at the Danie Craven Stadium last Friday evening (23 February). Stellies emerged victorious following a narrow 1-1 (4-3) penalty shootout win over their Gauteng-based opponents and will now travel to KwaZulu-Natal to take on Milford FC in the competition’s next round. Here forward Devin Titus celebrates after finding the back of the net in the clash. “What I’m seeing about the team is that we’re finding ways to win football matches even when we’re not at our best,” head coach Steve Barker said. “The most important thing was to get into the next round, because once you’re there, there are only 16 teams left and there’s no reason for us not to go all the way in the competition.” Stellenbosch FC will again be in action tomorrow (Friday 1 March), when they host Chippa United in a Dstv Premier Soccer League match at the Danie Craven Stadium at 19:30. Grand Stand tickets are available at R50 from Pick n Pay and Webtickets outlets.
