The e’Bosch Schools Choir Festival 2022, renowned as the largest school choir gathering in the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek area, will be celebrated as two events on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 September.

It begins with e’Bosch High Schools Choir Festival at Stellenbosch High School at 19:00 on Thursday 22 September, followed by the e’Bosch Primary Schools Choir Festival at Coetzenburg Sports Centre at 18:00 on Friday 23 September.

“This year, we are delighted to stage some 260 learners from six secondary schools and 540 learners from 18 primary schools at these two events,” said John Frans, e’Bosch Schools Choir project manager.

“The 18 primary schools are grouped into three geographical clusters and have been meeting regularly to rehearse a few songs for their respective groups.

“The Stellenbosch University Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Pamela Kierman, will perform at the high school event and accompany the mass choir as they sing the e’Bosch theme song, ‘The United Light’, commissioned once again from composer Xander Kritzinger.”

The six participating high schools are Cloetesville, Lückhoff, Stellenzicht, Makupula and Stellenbosch high schools, as well as Paul Roos Gymnasium.

The 18 primary schools are Cloetesville, Eikestad, St Ida’s RC, Bruckner de Villiers, Rietenbosch, Pieter Langeveldt, Ikaya, A.F. Louw, JJ Rhode, Klapmuts, Dalubuhle, Joostenberg SSKV, St Vincent RC, Simondium, Devon Valley, Raithby, Weber Gedenk NGK and Dorothea primary schools.

Both festivals are open to the community. Entry to the e’Bosch Primary and High Schools Choir Festival is free.
