The Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch (AWSS) has launched its Happy Paws Lottery, which will see one lucky ticket holder win R25 000 if all tickets are sold. Tickets for the lottery are already on sale at R100 each.
According to Jessica Perrins, general manager at AWSS, the organisation is committed to all animals, not just those in its care. She said: “The AWSS Community Outreach Clinics provide pet owners and their pets with primary veterinary health care: wound care, treatment of illnesses, vaccinations, parasite treatment, pet sterilisation, pet food and humane education. They are a critical link to sick and suffering animals, which would otherwise not have access to veterinary care.
“This has resulted in an inestimable amount of good and substantially improved the lives of countless otherwise unfortunate pets in our area of operation and beyond, and has kept hundreds of pet owners and their pets together, which is most often the best outcome for everyone involved.”
To maintain the momentum and improve on the successes of the clinics, the AWSS must continue investing in the sterilisation and primary health care of at least an additional 1 000 animals annually. “We hope to do so with the funds raised via our lottery,” Perrins added. “It is a big investment with a guaranteed massive return for all beneficiaries and the Stellenbosch community at large.”
How does the AWSS Happy Paws Lottery work?
The Society Lottery Scheme is registered with National Lotteries Commission.
There are 1 000 tickets at R100 each; if all the tickets are sold a total of R100 000 will be available. Of this total one lucky winner will receive 25% or R25 000, while the AWSS will receives 75% or R75 000.
The draw date will be Sunday 31 December. Tickets must be bought via the AWSS website.
