A 45-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday 28 February in Franschhoek for possession of 99 kg of copper and other forms of metal.
Police spokesperson Capt Louise du Plessis confirmed the arrest following an integrated operation.
“The Cape Winelands District Non-ferrous Metal Investigation Group held an integrated operation in the Franschhoek area, where a suspect was arrested for being in possession of approximately 99 kg of copper and other forms of metal,” she said.
The suspect, Juan Goliath, from Franschhoek appeared in court on Wednesday 1 March for the possession of stolen property.
