Nine riders of the local mountain-biking team Fairtree DP World Cannondale were in action at the Newland Spring Brewery XCM event at Bloemendal Wine Estate in Durbanville this past Saturday (26 August). The team comprised Luyanda Tobigunya, Kusaselihle Ngidi, Atlahang Mokhotsi, Ongeziwe Tyapa, Sthera Xhala, Thembela Lukulo, Yomelela Mfazwa, Ongezo Mini and Thando Nthuthu. Six riders took on the challenging 60 km course, while the remaining three tackled the 40 km course. The team delivered great results, with three riders finishing in the top 10 in the senior men’s category. In the 40 km race the two women finished first and second in the open women’s category. On the overall log, the team now has two riders in the top 10, with Luyanda placed second and Lihle eighth. “These results bode well for the upcoming races,” said Chris Norton, “and our aim of performing at Wines2Whales with our various teams.
