Tokara Director’s Reserve, the flagship white wine of this prized Stellenbosch family-owned wine estate, struck London Gold at the 20th Decanter World Wine Awards.
The current 2020 vintage was awarded a Gold medal with a score of 95/100 by the panel of expert judges at what is widely held as the world’s largest and most influential wine competition. A record number of 18 250 wines from 57 countries entered this year.
The 2020 vintage also excelled in the USA, with a 93-point rating from the esteemed International Wine Review, while on home turf, winemag.co.za awarded the wine 94 points.
Tokara Director’s Reserve White 2020 is a classic Bordeaux-style blend of Sauvignon blanc/Semillon from vines on the highest slopes of the Simonsberg. It has amazing clarity and depth. Passion fruit and pink grapefruit intermingle with hints of cassis and freshly toasted brioche. The wine is full and rich with a zesty persistence.
