The soccer team of Rhenish Girls’ High School was crowned winner of the Champions Cup hosted by Rustenburg Girls’ High School at the weekend. The Stellenbosch girls remained unbeaten throughout their campaign, notching up six victories and one draw. On day 1 of the tournament, they recorded 2-0 victories over the hosts and Claremont High, while the second day saw them triumph over South Peninsula High (2-0) and play to a 1-1 draw with the Wynberg Girls’ High. In the semi-final on Saturday, they were again 2-1 victors over Rustenburg Girls’ High, which set up a final encounter with Claremont High on Sunday. In the nail-biting clash, the Stellenbosch girls showed their mettle and clinched a 1-0 victory to be crowned champions.
