Every year Stellenbosch University (SU) ends its welcoming programme for newcomers with Vensters, a popular event that has been part of the Maties landscape for a number of years. It sees the staging of various short productions by student communities and focuses on topics such as university life and academics as well as how students can apply the university’s vision, mission and values daily. All newcomer students perform in the productions, which are produced and directed entirely by student leaders, from script to final performance. With this event newcomers are introduced to the diverse student population at SU, and the university can build social cohesion among student communities and pursue inclusivity. Here students from the Capri commuter student community and Harmonie Residence, who came second at Stage 2, are performing at Vensters on Saturday 10 February.
