The Provincial Social Crime Prevention Office, together with Stellenbosch police and local stakeholders, conducted a Youth Day Celebration on 16 June at Kayamandi High School.

In the form of a careers expo, the theme of the event was “Celebrating Diversity in our Youth”.

“It aimed to portray the police as a diverse organisation with career prospects,” police spokesperson Captain Nathalie Martin said.

“The event was executed in three phases – a careers exhibition for unemployed youth, a dance showcase and musical concert.

Two young Western Cape police officers who excelled in their respective fields, sport and academics, motivated the youth to hold on to their dreams and work hard to achieve them.

Sergeant Jason Rhoda, local Stellenbosch social-crime prevention officer, stressed the importance of being goal-oriented, believing in themselves and having mentors in their lives to ensure accountability to become a success.

“The South African Police Service wants to thank all role-players who played their part in making this event the successful that it truly was,” Martin added.
